Daytime Fireworks: Ole Miss has everything to play for in Egg Bowl
No. 12 Ole Miss (9-2, 5-2) take on Mississippi State Thursday night on ESPN in another edition of the Egg Bowl. Lane Kiffin and the Rebels have a shot at 10 regular season wins for the second time in three years and, if it happens, a shot at 11 wins for the first time in program history.
Ole Miss defeated Louisiana-Monroe last week, 35-3, and are now getting ready on a short week to try and avenge last year’s home loss to the Bulldogs. Jaxson Dart and the offense have three receivers with 700 or more yards receiving and Quinshon Judkins is 67 yards away from another 1,000-yard season.
Defensively, Pete Golding’s unit has been really good at creating havoc and getting pressure on quarterbacks. MSU has been very bad at protecting the quarterback and have really struggled against defenses with a pulse.
On this edition of “Daytime Fireworks”, David Brandt and I look at the game and what’s at stake for each program.

The Ole Miss defense is Top 10 in sacks and Top 25 in tackles for loss.
I expect Golding and the Ole Miss defense to get after Will Rogers early. The MSU quarterback is battered and not 100 percent and Jo’quavious Marks is also going to be limited. And a year after Emmanuel Forbes shutdown half the field, I expect Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins and Dayton Wade to run free and hit some big plays to run away it.
