Daytime Fireworks: Ole Miss must stick to its identity vs Georgia
No. 10 Ole MIss (8-1, 5-1) travels to Athens, Ga., to take on the No. 2-ranked Georgia Bulldogs Saturday evening. Sure it’s a double-digit line and, yeah, no one is going to give the Rebels a chance. But, isn’t this perfect for a Lane Kiffin-led team?
“House money” is thrown around a lot in sports and I think this is a perfect way to look at this weekend’s SEC matchup. Ole Miss has an outside shot at a darkhorse campaign for the College Football Playoff if it wins out. And Georgia is trying to be the first three-peat in college football since Minnesota did it decades ago.
Tons of intrigue this weekend and a ton of interesting matchups in what should be a fantastic SEC chess match. On this edition of “Daytime Fireworks”, David Brandt and Zach Berry give an extensive breakdown of the Top 10 matchup this weekend in Athens. They talk about the keys to the game for the Rebels and how they think Week 11 shakes out across the SEC.
Tre Harris will try to make it a long night for Georgia defensive backs Saturday.
Harris along with his running mates, Dayton Wade and Jordan Watkins are the three-headed monster who can give Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs fits. Ole Miss is the lone Power 5 program with three receivers with 600 or more receiving yards. And if the Rebels want to play spoiler this weekend, these three will need to get going early.

Quinshon Judkins is hitting his stride as well. He’s coming off a 100-yard, three touchdown performance against Texas A&M and seems to be getting stronger with each passing week. If Ole Miss wants to stay in this one, the run game will need to be effective.
Lastly, the final matchup to watch is Ole Miss’ defense defending the pass. Carson Beck has been really impressive the last month. The Pete Golding unit has been really good up front, posting Top 5 sack numbers and Top 15 tackles for loss numbers. The Rebels need to get after Beck early and often and stay ahead of the chains.
Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss have been an aggressive, controlled chaos offense during his tenure.
This will need to continue if the Rebels are going to pull of the upset. Jaxson Dart will need to be surgical through the air and with his legs. And the defense will need to create negative plays and force Beck into a couple bad throws.
Tune in for this week’s episode to hear our breakdown and Week 11 picks around the SEC.
