No. 12 Ole Miss (9-2, 5-2) travels to Starkville, Miss., to take on Mississippi State (5-6, 1-6) Thanksgiving night. The Rebels are the heavy favorite but the Bulldogs are looking to play spoiler as Lane Kiffin and Co., are trying to win 10 games in the regular season for the second time in three years.

Jaxson Dart and the offense have been efficient all season long but with the injury to Micah Pettus, the offensive line has been in flux. Kiffin hopes Jayden Williams returns for this one and gives the front the identity it has missed the last two weeks.

Defensively, Pete Golding‘s group is still Top 10 in sacks and hope to make life miserable for Will Rogers Thursday. This one seems like it’s going to come down to protection on both sides. If Ole Miss can keep Dart upright and give him time to operate, it seems like the Rebs can have quite the feast on a MSU secondary which has struggled all season.

On this edition of “Red and Blue Smoke”, Greg Jones from LB’s Meat Market is here to not only predict the Egg Bowl, but also get your appetite stirring for Thanksgiving.

Rivalry games can get a little weird, but Ole Miss is aiming to win with style.

Mississippi State has had a rough go of it in 2023 under first-year head coach Zach Arnett. Then, he was fired. Now, interim coach Greg Knox looks to fire up a roster trying to get bowl eligible. Will Rogers is going to give it a go. And so is Jo’Quavious Marks. These two will hope to score some points against a bend but don’t break Ole Miss defense.

On the other side, though, Ole Miss is hoping to keep pace with the Top 10 in the College Football Playoff rankings and continue to distance itself from the other in-state SEC program. Ole Miss has a Top 20 recruiting class and hopes to add more blue chips in the next month. This is the opportunity for Kiffin and the Rebels to make a real statement by announcing itself to the rest of the conference as a Tier 1 SEC program who can handle it’s business on the road.
