Ole Miss wide receiver Jordan Watkins had himself a 2023 to remember. Then, on Saturday he gave Rebel fans another thing to celebrate about. The Louisville transfer announced via Twitter he would be returning for the 2024 season.

As the Rebels offense got rolling down the stretch and finished 10-2, the Louisville transfer continued to shine. In 12 games, he grabbed 53 receptions for 741 yards and three touchdowns. He along with Tre Harris and Dayton Wade were the only trio in the country to have 700 or more yards receiving.

He should give Ole Miss’ offense some juice next year and will be a top target for Jaxson Dart. His savvy route-running, sure hands and affinity for the big play will be huge for Ole Miss’ pursuit of a college football playoff berth.

The veteran Ole Miss wide receiver and team leader believes these Rebels are better equipped to handle adversity and pressure.

“This is a much, much more mature team,” Watkins said. “Looking back from last year, I really don’t like to compare, but we are a way more mature team, and I think we’ll be able to handle it pretty well.”

Ole Miss appears poised to land another big-time playmaker at receiver.

One of the top wide receiver threats in the SEC of 2022, he pulled in 68 catches for 928 yards in his first year in the league.

The 6-foot-1, 204-pound wideout dealt with injuries throughout this fall, playing in just two games and tallying three catches for 37 yards and a touchdown. The Rebels have emerged as a major player in his recruitment over the last 24 hours, along with Oregon.
