Ole Miss set to hire former Alabama OL, Western Kentucky assistant William Vlachos as analyst
After news broke of Lane Kiffin’s hiring of former Mississippi State head coach Zach Arnett Wednesday, another report surfaced of another staff addition. Ole Miss is set to hire former Alabama offensive lineman and Western Kentucky assistant coach William Vlachos.
The news was first reported by 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz and later confirmed by OMSpirit. Vlachos, a former first-team All-SEC selection, recently coached at Western Kentucky as a defensive run game/pass rush coordinator. He spent previous years season at Central Michigan (offensive line) and at Colorado. He also served as a defensive blitz specialist for the Buffalo Bills.
Vlachos will serve as an analyst at Ole Miss on Kiffin’s staff. Vlachos is yet another former college player with a decorated career joining the Rebels’ staff. Former MTSU quarterback Brent Stockstill has also joined the Ole Miss staff in recent weeks.

William Vlachos played for the Crimson Tide and former legendary head coach Nick Saban.
Although he was recruited by Mike Shula, Vlachos played under Saban from 2007 to 2011. As the starting center for Alabama, he blocked for Mark Ingram en route to the program’s first Heisman Trophy in 2009. He also helped Trent Richardson become a Heisman finalist in 2011, running for a single-season school record of 1,679 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns.
He was on Alabama’s 2009 and 2011 BCS National Championship teams as well. His coaching career started as a graduate assistant (2013) and offensive analyst (2014-17) on Saban’s staff. Vlachos coached on two more national championship teams (2015 and 2017) before leaving for the NFL.
