Ole Miss football announces names and numbers of 21 June additions
Ole Miss football officially added to its roster this month 21 new players, among them seven transfers.
Arguably most notable, however, was who was missing: Former LSU wide receiver Deion Smith, the No. 1 JUCO prospect in the country.
Smith has seemingly been on the verge of landing in Oxford since he announced his transfer from LSU two years ago. However, academic hurdles sent him to Holmes (Mississippi) Community College for a year. Even more coursework kept Smith from enrolling at Ole Miss in December and participating in spring practices.
The 6-foot-3, 203-pound Smith told the Ole Miss Spirit last month he was set to arrive at Ole Miss Saturday, June 1. Sources insisted Monday Smith will be good to go in the fall. He spent last season at Holmes (Mississippi) Community College. Smith has until July 31 to be officially added to the roster in order to be eligible to play in 2024-25.

“I feel like we’ve got the best receiver room in the country,” Smith previously told the Ole Miss Spirit. “Single coverage, nobody can guard us. That receiving room is going to be the room that takes us all the way.”
Smith caught 11 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns in six games as an LSU freshman. He signed in 2021 as the No. 54 player in his class. Smith was a four-star, as well as the No. 8 wide receiver and No. 1 recruit in Mississippi.
