Daytime Fireworks: Over/under 9.5 wins next season for Ole Miss in expanded CFP?
David Brandt survived the Waste Management Phoenix Open and is back for another episode of “Daytime Fireworks”, presented by College Corner. On this week’s show, we talk about the newly-expanded College Football Playoff format and how it could potentially affect Ole Miss’ chances.
FanDuel released its win totals earlier this month. David and I discuss the 2024 schedule, new SEC members Texas and Oklahoma and adjustments needed to be made and how we see the 5+7 format affected the sport.
OMSpirit’s Chuck Rounsaville took a look at the schedule and the potential landmines.
“The table is set for the Rebels to have one of those years we all dream about and anything less than getting in the 12-team college football playoff would be a big disappointment, but it will be a requirement for Ole Miss to play good, solid football throughout the season to reach that goal.”

We also discuss the latest bracketology predictions putting Ole Miss on the bubble.
David and I go through the several scenarios of what could possibly happen for the Rebels and first-year head coach Chris Beard. Tomorrow’s game against Mississippi State is a big one. The tournament committee loves road wins and defeating the rival Bulldogs would go a long way as MSU is currently a 10-seed, per Joe Lunardi.
Ole Miss also has ample opportunities against Alabama and South Carolina at home. Both are tournament teams and would bolster anyone’s resume.
