Last Friday Night: Highlights and stats from Ole Miss football recruiting commitments and targets

The 2022 high school football season is well underway nationwide and a number of Ole Miss recruiting commitments and targets showed out in their season-opening games.

THE COMMITS

4-star LB Suntarine Perkins

Raleigh (Miss.) and Ole Miss’ highest-ranked commit helped the Lions continue their winning ways last Friday, defeating Taylorsville (Miss.), 46-12. After the win, the 6-foot-3, 210 pound linebacker made the drive north to Oxford to watch No. 16 Ole Miss handily defeat Central Arkansas, 59-3.

Perkins and Raleigh improved to 3-0.

4-star WR Ayden Williams

The Ridgeland (Miss.) wideout didn’t go dumb like he did last weekend but he still put up solid numbers in a 40-7 win over Jim Hill (Miss.) on Friday. The 6-foot-2, 190 pounder finished with six receptions for 68 yards, averaging a cool 11.3 yards per catch. Through three games, he has 21 catches for 481 yards and five touchdowns.

Williams and the Titans improved to 3-0.

4-star QB Marcel Reed

I was on site for this one and the 6-foot-2, 180 pound quarterback put on a show from the jump. Montgomery Bell Academy (Tenn.) was in charge from the word go on the backs of Reed’s performance, blowing out CPA (Tenn.), 35-10. Reed ended the evening with 119 yards passing, 84 yards rushing and four total touchdowns.

Reed and MBA are now 4-0.

4-star ATH Ahmad Brown

The 6-foot-1, 195 pound athlete made it two in a row for Crisp County (Ga.) last week, defeating Sumter County (Ga.), 19-0. Brown finished with 154 total yards on offense and four tackles and one tackle for loss on defense. At one point during the shutout victory, Brown was clocked running 19.93 MPH.

3-star S Daniel Demery

Demery and Parish Episcopal (Tex.) remain undefeated after their 44-21 win over LBJ Austin (Tex.) last week. The 5-foot-11, 194 pound safety wasn’t tested very often in the secondary but still managed three tackles and one pass deflection.

Demery and Parish Episcopal are 3-0.

3-star TE Jayvontay Conner

The big-bodied pass-catcher flashed his athleticism in a 59-7 win over South Iredell (N.C.) last week. Conner had three receptions for 69 yards and also added a 47-yard touchdown run for East Forsyth (N.C.) who is still unbeaten.

Conner and East Forsyth move to 3-0 on the season.

THE TARGETS

4-star ATH Malachi Coleman

Ole Miss will host the On3 Consensus four-star from Lincoln, Neb., for an official visit October 1 when they open SEC play against Kentucky. On Friday, though, Coleman was back on the field with Lincoln East (Neb.) as they dropped a contest against Lincoln West (Neb.), 31-17. Despite the loss, Coleman managed three receptions for 32 yards and a touchdown.

Coleman and Lincoln East are now 1-2.

3-star DL Jamarrion Harkless

Ole Miss hosted the 6-foot-4, 315 pound defensive tackle for their season opener for an official visit against Troy and then he followed it up with an official visit to Auburn last weekend. Harkless and his Frederick Douglass (Ky.) teammates dominated Paul Laurence Dunbar (Ky.), 47-7.

Harkless and Frederick Douglass improved to 4-0.
