Spirit's Take: Here's what Ole Miss is adding in On3 three-star Skielar Mann
Early Tuesday morning, a few days removed from starting the 2022 season 1-0, Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss added their 11th commit of the 2023 class with the commitment of Peach County (Ga.) linebacker Skielar Mann.
Mann, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound linebacker, unofficially visited Ole Miss earlier this summer for Juice Fest 22, where he earned an official offer. He quickly turned around and made his return for an official visit over the weekend to take in the Rebels’ season opener against Troy.
After a weekend in Oxford, getting a chance to see Ole Miss’ defense in person and meeting with co-defensive coordinators Maurice Crum and Chris Partridge, Mann said enough was enough and announced his verbal commitment.
Georgia Tech and Florida State have also offered.
However, it appears the Ole Miss coaching staff wanted to lock in a commitment before his recruitment really takes off.
The Seminoles are recruiting Mann as a tight end, but Crum and Rebel off-the-field staffer Dane Stevens like him as a linebacker.

On3 has yet to rank Mann.
SPIRIT’S TAKE
Mann is a two-way player used everywhere as a junior. He totaled 24 tackles, four quarterback hurries, three sacks and two forced fumbles in 11 games, and, offensively, he used his athleticism to make 20 catches for 420 yards and seven touchdowns.
Despite the skillset, Mann will find his home on defense when he arrives at Ole Miss and will provide Crum and Partridge plenty of positional versatility. He has experience doing a little bit of everything, from being your standard inside linebacker to playing some off the edge. He shows patience when tracking the football and is plenty strong for the position, flashing thumper tendencies and an ability to run down opponents from the back side as well.
Once some much-needed weight is added, he could factor in at the outside linebacker or strong safety positions in Ole Miss’ 3-2-6 defensive scheme, which loves to showcase speed and quickness at the line of scrimmage.
