Well it didn’t take long. Utah State wide receiver Micah Davis announced he was officially entering the portal Monday and committed to Ole Miss Friday. He has since arrived in Oxford and should be ready to go for fall camp practice Monday.

The former Air Force wideout and return specialist joins an absolutely loaded room in Oxford. With the Falcons, Davis finished with 360 rushing and 221 receiving yards along with six touchdowns. Last year as a junior with the Aggies, the 5-foot-11, 185 pound wideout grabbed 36 receptions for 628 yards and six touchdowns. He was also a weapon on special teams, returning 28 punts for 250 yards and six kickoffs for 83 yards.

The expectation is for the Atlanta, Ga., native to quickly head to campus and to get going with fall camp which began Wednesday.

Micah Davis seemingly fits right in for Ole Miss as a return specialist.

The newest Rebel is more than just a pair of sure hands to put back there and call for a fair catch. He’s a weapon who could help flip the field for Ole Miss. Plus, the typical return specialist is Jordan Watkins. Davis would allow Watkins to focus more on offense and to cut down on hits taken.

He can also catch the football and run away from people. Davis earned honorable mention All-Mountain West honors as both a wide receiver and punt returner. He started seven of the 11 games, finishing the year with 36 receptions for 628 yards (17.4 yards per catch) and six touchdowns to rank third on the team in each category.
