Despite previously committing and decommitting from Mississippi State and eventually committing to Colorado, former Miami (Ohio) running back Rashad Amos took a visit to Ole Miss this week.

The former South Carolina transfer played in 13 games with the Gamecocks before leaving for Oxford, Ohio. The 6-foot-2, 234 pound prospect then had a breakout year in 2023 with the RedHawks.

Amos rushed for 1,075 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. He ranked third in the Mid-American Conference in rushing yards and finished second in touchdowns. Nakos also reports he is hearing a lot from Miami, Ole Miss, UCF, Utah and Virginia.

Rashad Amos is a former three-star recruit.

Amos topped 100 yards four times this past year. He had a career-high 180 rushing yards on 33 carries against Appalachian State in the Cure Bowl December 2. During his time with South Carolina, he only totaled 106 yards rushing on 20 carries.

The Fayetteville, Ga., prospect played his high school ball at Sandy Creek. There, he ran for 1,324 yards with 30 touchdowns as a senior. Also added 478 receiving yards and six more scores, helping the Patriots to a 12-2 record and a spot in the state GHSAA 4A semifinals.

Ole Miss has already landed two other running backs via the portal.

Miami’s Henry Parrish and New Mexico’s Jacory Merritt pack quite the punch for Lane Kiffin’s offense in 2024. Not to mention, the Rebels return Ulysses Bentley as well. It would seem Ole Miss wants to add one more back and preferably one who is a bigger body. Amos fits the bill here.
