New Mexico running back Jacory Merritt will transfer to Ole Miss
The spring transfer portal window opened on Tuesday and Ole Miss wasted little time getting things going. New Mexico running back Jacory Merritt has announced his commitment to the Rebels. The 5-foot-11, 204 pound prospect, who is originally from Montgomery, Ala., just finished up with New Mexico in 2023. There, he ran for 1,190 and 17 touchdowns.
He was named Honorable Mention All-America by College Football News and was named Second Team All-Mountain West. Merritt added seven receptions for 72 yards and a receiving touchdown as well. His 17 rushing touchdowns was third all-time for the Lobos.
Merritt finished the season with the back-to-back 200+ yard games. He ran for 209 yards and two touchdowns against Fresno State and then 233 yards and another touchdown against Utah State.
Prior to making his way to the Lobos, Jacory Merritt played four seasons at Alabama State.
He rushed for 1,164 yards and 13 touchdowns over his 31 career games with the Hornets, including two 100-yard games. Merritt should pair nicely with Ulysses Bentley in a backfield which is a key cog in the Lane Kiffin offense wheel. The Rebels are looking to supplant the production from Quinshon Judkins which is now gone with unique pieces. Merritt seems to be a talented piece who could take the offense to another level.

One scout told me his feet are “extra special…I turn on the tape and he does things between the tackles I have never seen before”.
