Lane Kiffin goes 2-for-2 in Knoxville, Tennessee EDGE Tyler Baron has committed to Ole Miss
Whoa. Just a day removed from landing Florida EDGE Princely Umanmielen, Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss have landed another big-time get from the portal. Tennessee EDGE Tyler Baron has announced he will join his fellow SEC East EDGE and will play for Ole Miss in 2024.
Baron is one of the most experienced line of scrimmage players in the SEC and would be quite the coup for Pete Golding and Randall Joyner. The Knoxville Catholic (Tenn.) prospect played in 47 career games with over 1,500 snaps played on Rocky Top. The former blue-chip recruit will have one year of eligibility remaining.
The Reese’s Senior Bowl Watch List recipient was a terror in 2023.
Baron finished the year with 28 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and six sacks. He also defended two passes, had one fumble recovery and scored a touchdown.
“Just taking advantage of everything honestly,” he said earlier this year on Vol Club Confidential about his growth in 2023. “Not taking anything for granted. Not saying I was doing it on purpose in the past but just emphasizing how important every day is and how important every detail is and making sure I do everything right.”

Baron briefly entered the portal last year but remained at Tennessee. As a senior at Knoxville Catholic, he had 105 tackles, 22 tackles for loss and nine sacks in 2019.
NFL scouts love Tyler Baron’s frame and big-play ability.
“Baron has the strong core and powerful hands to shed blockers, and Baron shows excellent instincts with the ability to quickly locate the ball,” NFL Draft Buzz said. “His spin move is already NFL-caliber, and he displays a very good motor.
“As a pass rusher, he shows quickness off the line and has the fluid athleticism and flexibility to bend the edge,” NFL Draft Buzz said. “Challenges inside with quickness and strong hands. Run-and-chase defender who can leave a mark.”
