Houston (Miss.) defensive lineman William Echoles was one of Ole Miss’ bigger signings in 2024. Alabama and Nick Saban wanted the four-star prospect bad. But, Lane Kiffin, Randall Joyner and Pete Golding were able to stave off the Crimson Tide.

Now, the 6-foot-3, 310 pound recruit is wowing people in fall camp.

On Monday, On3 released its 2024 Preseason True Freshman All-American Team and the Ole Miss freshman made the cut.

On3’s Charles Power is a huge fan of William Echoles.

“William Echoles shot up the rankings as a senior, showing dynamic ability on both sides of the ball. It was initially believed that he could make an impact early on as an interior offensive lineman at Ole Miss but has drawn rave reviews while working on the defensive line this fall for the Rebels,” Power said. “He’s extremely physical, has outstanding coordination overall, body awareness working on the inside and shows an advanced play strength and understanding of leverage for a freshman.”

The Rebel defensive lineman made 59 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and seven sacks in 2023 while blocking for a rushing attack which gained nearly 3,500 yards on the ground in 2023 with over 25 pancake blocks. Mississippi named him 4A Mr. Football.

Earlier this year, Cody Bellaire and Power named Echoles to their 2024 Instant Impact Freshmen team.
