Ole Miss adds another five-star in Alabama WR Caleb Odom
The 10th transfer portal commit is a big one. Literally and figuratively. Alabama five-star wide receiver Caleb Odom has committed to Ole Miss. This comes on the heels of his official visit to Oxford, Miss., earlier this week.
Odom seemingly chose the Rebels over offers from Colorado, Miami, North Carolina and South Carolina. The true freshman played in all 12 of Alabama’s games this year and made one start. The 6-foot-5, 227 pound prospect caught seven passes for 65 yards.
Odom was rated as the nation’s No. 1 tight end in the 2024 recruiting class, according to On3. A former five-star recruit, Odom was considered the No. 30 overall prospect before enrolling early.
Caleb Odom’s position coach at Alabama was Joe Cox who is now on staff at Ole Miss.
This played a key role in Odom choosing the Rebels. As a senior, Odom might’ve been listed as a tight end, but he was the top target for Julian Lewis and Carrollton (Ga.) in 2023. He finished with 46 receptions for 748 yards and 12 touchdowns. Odom was a MaxPreps All-American as a junior, hauling in 64 receptions for 1,121 yards and 13 touchdowns.
His comfort at the position and knowing Ole Miss wanted him as a wideout initially was a big reason for the commitment.

“Ole Miss was my first scholarship offer. It’s always been wide receiver. Me knowing that, it offers a sense of security because they wouldn’t switch up on me,” Odom said. “Wide receiver is what I do now so knowing I can make that easy transition, gain a little more muscle, that’s kept them in the running the whole time.”
Tre Harris and Jordan Watkins are gone in 2025.
But, Ole Miss has added Odom and Oklahoma State wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling. Both are big-bodied wideouts who can come in and immediately help to replace the production left by the two multi-year transfers. The newest transfer commit spoke with OMSpirit last cycle about coming in and potentially emulating past greats.
“There aren’t many I try to emulate, to be honest,” Odom said. “I try to be my own type of guy. There’s not many guys like me. Maybe D.K. Metcalf or Julio Jones. There are a lot of big receivers in the NFL but I don’t really try to emulate anyone. I want to build my own legacy.”
