Former Ole Miss commit Dillon Alfred checked out Clemson, now back in Oxford
Saraland (Ala.) wide receiver Dillon Alfred reopened his recruitment earlier this summer after being committed to the Rebels for a few months. Originally from Gautier, Miss., Alfred transferred to the Yellowhammer State power for his junior season. He is now set to finish his high school career. But, first he is taking two very important trips before August arrives.
On3’s Chad Simmons caught up with Alfred about his interest in Clemson.
“I have high interest in Clemson. Some things I like about Clemson is their offensive style for receivers, the tradition they have, the academic support and the campus,” Alfred told On3 in a previous interview.
Dillon Alfred originally chose Ole Miss over the likes of Missouri, Arkansas, Clemson, UGA, Texas A&M and Tennessee.
He said the decision came down to one very simple thing.
“It’s how Ole Miss develops receivers,” Alfred said. “They put them in the league and it’s a great program.”
In 12 games in 2023, he helped Saraland to a runner-up finish in Alabama’s 6A classification. He snagged 35 receptions for 586 yards and sixs touchdowns. Before leaving Mississippi, the 6-foot, 170 pound prospect had a banner campaign. He hauled in 58 receptions for 1,310 yards and 16 touchdowns as a sophomore.

Many have speculated the renewed interest in Clemson came after receiving an offer from Dabo Swinney and the Tigers. The Clemson head coach has several qualifiers for potential visitors. You cannot be committed elsewhere and this tracks with him decommitting in order to check out the ACC program.
The back-to-back visits could help clarify some things for Aldred, too. Ole Miss will get to counter whatever Swinney and Garrett Riley are selling him.
