Ole Miss signee Jarcoby Hopson named Mississippi 6A Athlete of the Year
Ole Miss signee and Lake Cormorant (Miss.) four-star linebacker Jarcoby Hopson was named Mississippi’s 6A Athlete of the Year Friday.
Hopson inked with the Rebels Wednesday along with 22 other future teammates. He is the No. 293 overall prospect, per On3’s Industry Ranking. He’s also ranked as the 32nd overall linebacker in the country and Mississippi’s No. 11 prospect in the 2025 class.
As a senior, Hopson totaled 88 total tackles with an impressive 50 solo tackles, 12 tackles for loss and six sacks. On offense, he made an even bigger impact for the Gators. The future Ole Miss linebacker carried the football 63 times for 403 yards and 12 touchdowns, averaging 6.4 yards per carry.
Jarcoby Hopson will represent Mississippi in the MS/AL All-Star Game later this month.
The 2024 Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Football Game will be played in Mobile, Ala., Saturday, December 14 at 12pm CT at Hancock Whitney Stadium on the campus of South Alabama.
He will be joined by Ole Miss signees Caleb Cunningham, Bryson Walters, Andrew Maddox and Cortez Thomas. Ole Miss signee Talib Graham will be on the other sideline, playing for Alabama.

The four-star prospect was also named to the Commercial Appeal’s high school football 2024 Dandy Dozen earlier this year.
Defensive coordinator Pete Golding played a pivotal role in getting Hopson to Oxford, Miss., over the likes of Auburn, Florida, Missouri and Texas A&M.
“Coach Pete is a very cool person, he was telling me where I would play in his defense,” Hopson said. “He’s been very welcoming.”
Wes Neighbors was also a big part of landing the DeSoto County recruit. He says Ole Miss likens him to 2023 signee and Freshman All-American Suntarine Perkins.
“They like me as an outside linebacker/safety,” Hopson said. “The JACK position.”
