Four-star safety Keon Young commits to Ole Miss over Florida, Kentucky
Lakeland (Fla.) safety Keon Young was at Ole Miss over the weekend. He spent time with Pete Golding, Wes Neighbors, Bryan Brown and Lane Kiffin. After leaving Oxford, Miss., he decided to end what most anticipated. The four-star prospect committed to the Rebels Sunday.
Young is a Top 25 player at his position and the No. 244 overall prospect in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He is also the 36th-ranked player in the Sunshine State.

Despite having official visits scheduled to Minnesota, Michigan State, Kentucky and South Florida, Young decided to commit to Ole Miss after his official visit. The 6-foot, 171 pound prospect was a team captain for the Dreadnaughts in 2023. He finished his junior year with 45 tackles, 12 pass breakups, nine tackles for loss and six interceptions.
Keon Young was a key cog for Lakeland en route to a 2023 4S state championship.
Lakeland finished 12-3 and defeated Venice (Fla.) by a score of 60-48. Young is described by the coaching staff as a “ball-hawking safety” who has a knack for the big play. Last year, he had two pick sixes and came up with several third down picks. At just 171 pounds, he is a more-than-willing tackler and can deliver a blow in coverage.
