Major Preston makes it three commits this week for Ole Miss
IMG Academy (Fla.) safety Major Preston narrowed his search down to four programs ahead of his Saturday decision date. Colorado, Florida, Ole Miss and Virginia Tech were the finalists for the three-star prospect who is originally from Hopewell, Va. And on Saturday, the three-star prospect chose Ole Miss.
The No. 783 overall prospect is the 64th-ranked safety in the country. The staff’s efforts were led by safeties coach Wes Neighbors and cornerbacks coach Bryan Brown. Preston is the 12th commit in the Ole Miss class which is now back inside the Top 25.

Major Preston will bring position versatility wherever he goes.
He was a two-way player at Hopewell before leaving for Bradenton, Fla. As a sophomore, he made 17 tackles, grabbed five interceptions and had four pass breakups on defense. Offensively, he finished with 29 catches for 449 yards and a touchdown. At IMG Academy, he finished with 18 total tackles in 2023.
During his junior season with the Ascenders, Preston played primarily as a slot corner. His length helps him make up for lack of elite height when going up against bigger tight ends. He’s also a more-than-willing tackler in space.
