Ole Miss adds more firepower to WR room with addition of Traylon Ray
Ole Miss added another transfer portal commitment Wednesday. West Virginia wide receiver Traylon Ray made it official, joining the 2nd-ranked portal class.
The 6-foot-1, 195 pound wideout played two seasons in Morgantown. In 2024, he only played in 10 games due to injury but still managed 28 receptions for 426 yards and four touchdowns. Ray skipped out on a visit to Mississippi State and went ahead and committed after his official visit concluded.
Ray was a four-star prospect in the 2023 class. He was ranked as the No. 210 overall recruit, per On3’s Industry Ranking. He was the 28th-ranked wide receiver and Florida’s No. 42 prospect.

Traylon Ray was one of the top wideouts in Florida in the 2023 class.
As a senior, Ray had 70 receptions for 1,236 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns at North Florida Christian (Fla.) in Tallahassee. He was Class 2A All-State First Team. He was the fifth-leading WVU receiver this season. He finished with 18 catches for 321 yards, averaging 17.8 yards per catch and had three touchdowns. His season was cut short due to injury.
Scouting Report
Three-sport star with a well-rounded skill set and strong production profile as a receiver. Unverified size and listed at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds. One of the more productive receivers in the state of Florida as a junior, hauling in 87 catches for 1,366 yards and 17 touchdowns. Works outside and in the slot. Already has some technical refinement to his game, despite not focusing on football year-around. Creates separation off the line of scrimmage with shake and change of direction in his releases. Shows the ability to win in contested situations, elevating to make plays on the ball. Also comfortable tracking the ball over his shoulder. Flashes his ball skills as a defensive back, where he picked off 5 passes as a junior. Adept at finding holes in the defense. Shows off his route-running capabilities in the red zone and on the goal line, breaking off corners on quick comeback routes. A standout in basketball where he averaged 15.1 points per game as a junior while showing some above-the-rim bounce. Also a strong player in baseball, hitting.359 with 5 home runs as a junior. Can continue improving his top-end speed and increase his play strength to aid in handling contact after the catch. Younger for the class, not turning 18 years-old until the July prior to his freshman season in college.
Ray joins a now-stacked wide receiver room with five-star Caleb Odom, four-star Da’Zhaun Stribling and three-star Deuce Alexander. They will join returning starter and second-leading wide receiver Cayden Lee.
