The dead period is nearly over and spring visit season will start in March. Several top targets have already planned unofficial, official and camp visits. Ole Miss has quite a few targets coming to Oxford, Miss., soon.

And there are quite a few in-state recruits who will make the short drive to North Mississippi. In fact, Mississippi put the 8th-most prospects in the brand new rankings.

Let’s take a look at the 12 prospects who were named to the recently-unveiled, brand new On300 rankings.

Of the 12 above-listed names, I would say Ole Miss a real shot at landing at least half of the Mississippi recruits.

The top-ranked prospect, Tristen Keys, is set to visit next month. He is receiving a lot of attention from the staff, top-to-bottom. He is receiving a lot of national hype. And for good reason. But, Lane Kiffin has done a nice job with the No. 1 overall Mississippi prospect the last few cycles.

Right below him at No. 2, Jase Mathews, was visited by Kiffin, George McDonald and Kelvin Bolden last month. He has seen quite the meteoric rise in the rankings and is expected to see his hype grow. I like Ole Miss’ chances here.

JaReylan McCoy dipped a little in the rankings despite a solid junior season and state title. His sophomore year saw him put up video game numbers so technically, his production declined. But, the Ole Miss staff is going to do whatever it takes to land the Mississippi prospect.

To close it out, the three prospects at the bottom of the list are top targets. Tylan Wilson is someone the staff would love to get on the board early. He’s a long, athletic defensive back who has a lot of position versatility. McDonald, like the other two wide receiver names on this list, is a top-flight wideout prospect who garners a lot of well-deserved attention from the staff. And finally, Ashley is an Ole Miss legacy and is someone Pete Golding has been after for some time.
