Get a look at 5-star Ole Miss commit Caleb Cunningham in action
Choctaw County (Miss.) five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham announced his flip to Ole Miss Wednesday. The 6-foot-2, 180 pound prospect had been committed to Kalen DeBoer and Alabama since July. But a tandem of Lane Kiffin, Kelvin Bolden, George McDonald, Charlie Weis Jr., Patrick Carter and damn near the rest of the staff stayed consistent and got it done.
Earlier this season, Cunningham put up 220 yards on just five receptions in a 51-14 win. And that’s been the norm for most of the 2024 season. Let’s take a look at some of the newest Ole Miss Rebel’s top highlights from his senior season.
Here you see Cunningham, in double coverage, high point the football and win at the catch point. The frame and length help him do this on a consistent basis. One of the things scouts rave about is his ability to go up in a timely manner and make the outstanding play look routine. A lot of this can be attributed to his basketball background.
In the first clip here, you see a clean release at the line of scrimmage.
He is being bracketed by the cornerback and safety but with a great throw and an even better catch, it’s an easy six points. Cunningham not only plucks the ball out of the air, but he uses his strong hands to extend it away from the defense and into the end zone.
In this clip, we see the five-star’s ability to accelerate after the catch. Cunningham catches a quick out, makes the first man miss, breaks a tackle, keeps his balance down the sideline and outrun the rest of the defenders. At close to 200 pounds, he moves like a smaller wide receiver. Dare I say, this looks eerily similar to Tre Harris.

Again, clean release at the line and strong hands through the finish.
Despite the defensive back being in phase and somewhat good coverage, it didn’t matter. Great ball from the quarterback and an even better catch makes it look all too easy.
Here we see him in the intermediate game, taking it to the house. The five-star recruit weaves in and out of would-be tacklers with ease and houses one for six. 50-yard catch and run without hardly breaking a sweat. Kiffin and Weis love to utilize bigger bodies over the middle and this is a perfect example of something Ole Miss fans could see Cunningham do in 2025 as a true freshman.
And if you needed another look at Cunningham’s strong hands, look no further than this clip. High point, snag and didn’t even bring it in to the body to control it through the finish. Not a lot of folks can do this and make it look so effortless.
On3 Scouting Report
Bouncy outside receiver with the upside to become a skilled ball-winner. Measured at a shade 6-foot-2, 180 pounds with 32-inch arms and 9-inch hands prior to his senior season. Moves well at his size on film. Shows the ability to come down with catches in contested situations. Hangs in the air to come down with acrobatic grabs. Naturally coordinated and can locate the football at its highest point. Also shows some ability to make defenders miss after the catch. Increased his production as a junior, catching 48 passes for 1,138 yards and 14 touchdowns. Doubles as a fantastic high school basketball player, who has perhaps the best dunk reel among 2025 football prospects. Lives above the rim, throwing down electric dunks with regularity. Has considerable natural ability but will need to hone his technical skill at the position over the final few years of high school football, including expanding his route tree. Older for the cycle, turning 19 years-old as a senior. Has considerable upside with continued technical development.
On3 Pro Comparison for Caleb Cunningham
“Caleb Cunningham’s twitch and ability at the catch point remind us of Brian Thomas Jr. at the same stage. Both were basketball stars in high school. Thomas is over an inch taller than Cunningham and has a larger frame.”
