Ole Miss commit Marcel Reed turns attention to senior season, recruiting others for 2023 class
Montgomery Bell Academy (Tenn.) quarterback and 2023 Ole Miss commit Marcel Reed had an impressive showing at the Nashville Elite 11 Regional on Sunday. Afterwards, the nation’s No. 19 quarterback spoke with OMSpirit about how he thought his afternoon went at the competition.
“I think I was consistent and I made some good throws,” Reed said. “I think I tested well in the evaluation period as well. It was a really good day for me.”
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound four-star committed to the Rebels at the end of April and is now enjoying life no longer being undecided.
“It’s been great. I’ve been made a recruiter now,” Reed said. “Cayden Lee, Tyler Williams, those are the two receivers I am talking to. I’m also working on Wilkin Formby and Brycen Sanders, those are the linemen I am after.”
Reed says despite his recruitment being over, he continues to communicate with the Ole Miss staff.
“We talk every week and not always football stuff,” Reed said. “I am comfortable with what I did and I am even more comfortable with the staff.”
The 8th-ranked prospect in the state of Tennessee is now seemingly putting a wrap on camp season and is going to start preparing for his senior season.
“I am going to try and put on a little bit of weight this summer and focus on my team and teammates,” Reed said. “Just want to work on my timing and my accuracy with them and get ready for the year.”

Reed said he is unsure about graduating in December and he still plans on playing basketball his final year at Montgomery Bell Academy. But, he did say he has an idea of when he wants to get back down to Oxford next.
“I am probably going to take my official visit during the season.”
Reed is the No. 357 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
