Ole Miss football offers transfer portal tight end
On Wednesday, the Ole Miss football staff extended an offer to a portal prospect. Northwest Missouri State tight end Zach Atkins entered the NCAA Transfer Portal Tuesday and immediately received a good bit of attention.
Since announcing he had filled out paperwork to enter the portal, the 6-foot-3, 240 pound recruit has received offers from Liberty, Middle Tennessee State, New Mexico State, Old Dominion, Western Kentucky, Toledo, Pitt, Kentucky and Houston. Then, Ole Miss entered the mix when tight ends coach Joe Cox extended an offer.
After redshirting in 2022, Atkins had 12 catches for 181 yards and a touchdown in 2023. This season in nine games, he finished with 18 receptions for 179 yards and three scores.
Ole Miss is expected to lose at least one tight end for 2025.
Caden Prieskorn will exhaust his eligibility after the 2024 season and enter the NFL Draft. Most expect Dae’Quan Wright to return for his senior season and the Rebels also have Hudson Wolfe and Dillon Hipp on the roster. In the 2025 class, Buford (Ga.) three-star Hayden Bradley is committed.
