Ole Miss football reveals rosters for 2023 Grove Bowl
The spring practice season for Ole Miss football wraps up on Saturday with the 2023 edition of the annual Grove Bowl, wrapping up the third spring under head coach Lane Kiffin.
The scrimmage splits up the Ole Miss roster into the Red and Blue Teams with the players usually holding a draft and selecting their teammates. On the eve of this year’s Grove Bowl Ole Miss announced the rosters of each team and their respective captains.
Earlier this week the format for how this year’s Grove Bowl was unknown even to Kiffin who noted there were a high number of injuries that may play a role in how the Ole Miss spring game would look.
“We have a lot of injuries. Very abnormal amount,” Kiffin said on Tuesday. “Normally we let them draft and play it like a game versus the offense-defense format, which we’re so limited we may have to go to. We’ll have that answer as we get closer, but we are really, really limited in our number of people and have shortened practices. Have potentially talked about Saturday being our last practice.”
Later that same day a decision must have been made and Ole Miss revealed what the format will be. The game will consist of four 15-minute quarters, with a running clock and normal scoring format. The final four minutes of each half will have a clock stoppage. There will be no kickoffs and the ball will be spotted at the 30-yard line.

The Grove Bowl rosters features a mix of returners and newcomers and sheds light on a depth chart coming out of spring.
Jaxson Dart is the starting quarterback for the Red Team while Spencer Sanders is on the Blue Team. Walker Howard is listed on both rosters, leading to the expectation he will take snaps with both teams.
The Red and Blue Teams have a mix of what the starting five on the Ole Miss offensive front might be while the Blue Team has a heavy dose of what the starting defensive line could look like come September.
Captains for the Ole Miss Blue Team are Sanders, Michael Trigg and Ulysses Bentley IV. The Ole Miss Red Team captains are Dart, Jordan Watkins and Kiffin’s father Monte Kiffin.
The 2023 Ole Miss Grove Bowl will start at 2 p.m. CT and air on ESPN+ and SEC Network+. Admission is free for Ole Miss fans and the entrance gates at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium will open at 1 p.m. CT
