Hit That Line: Georgia runs the SEC East, but the fight for second could be fierce
Hit That Line, presented by Homefield Apparel, is back for our SEC East Preview. Georgia is the runaway favorite and is poised to run the table once again and complete the first three-peat since the 1930’s. But what about second place in the East?
On this episode of Hit That Line, the fellas are back in the booth to talk about the potential challengers to Kirby Smart’s Death Star. Tennessee has a ton of buzz after a massive 2022 season. But what about Joe Milton? Can he come close to replicating what Hendon Hooker did a year ago? Will the loss of Alex Golesh hurt more than the experts think? The Vols return two talented running backs and a few All-SEC caliber pass-catchers. But there are holes on the offensive line and in the front seven.
Elsewhere, we take a look at the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Shane Beamer and Co. might have the most momentum on the recruiting trail in the 2024 cycle. Spencer Rattler is poised for a breakout year but there are a few pieces missing from 2022. Juice Wells has a ton of hype, Trey Knox move over from Arkansas to replace Jaheim Bell and the defense is set to be pretty salty.

They won’t challenge for second place, but is Billy Napier actually the man for the job in Gainesville? Graham Mertz has been named the starter but the schedule is not nice and its defensive coordinator is as green as they come. What will the Gators look like in 2023? We here at Hit That Line think it will be a struggle.

And finally, what will Kentucky’s offense look like with the return of Liam Coen? Can Mark Stoops and the Wildcats improve on the early season run Will Levis churned out. Devin Leary replaces the Tennessee Titans’ draft pick and Barion Brown could be the most explosive player in the conference. Will it be able to hold serve against the top tier programs in the division?
We also give Missouri and Vanderbilt its flowers.
The Tigers have a few playmakers but must figure out quarterback. The Commodores may have a work in progress at First Bank Stadium, but AJ Swann and Will Shepperd give Vandy a one-two punch on offense which makes things interesting in Nashville.
