The first anticipated piece of the Southeastern Conference’s 2024 football schedule was revealed on Wednesday and Ole Miss knows which of the two newcomers it will face next season.

The SEC office revealed the conference opponents of all 16 teams, including Texas and Oklahoma, by way of the SEC Network and the Rebels have their eight opponents with date and times to come later this year or early in 2024.

Every one of the current 14 SEC teams were going to play either the Longhorns or Sooners on its schedule next fall. Ole Miss will host Oklahoma as one of its four SEC home games.

Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin will welcome Oklahoma offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby back to Oxford since he left for Norman after the 2021 season.

The rest of the Rebels home games in 2024 include Kentucky, Georgia and the Egg Bowl stays intact with Mississippi State concluding the regular season, one would think.

Ole Miss and Georgia will play in consecutive seasons for the first time since a home-and-home series took place in the 2011 and 2012 seasons. The Rebels head to Athens to play the two-time defending national champion Bulldogs on November 11 this season.

Road trips in the SEC for Ole Miss next year include playing at Arkansas, Florida, LSU and South Carolina.

Ole Miss will take on the Gators in Gainesville for the first time since 2015 and will only be the fifth time the two teams have played since 2007. Next year’s trip to Columbia to take on the Gamecocks with the Rebels first since 2009.

The previous two meetings between the Rebels and South Carolina have taken place in Oxford in 2018 and 2020. Ole Miss and Florida also played during the COVID-shortened 2020 season.

Trips to Baton Rouge and Fayetteville will be nothing new for Ole Miss, who would have been heading there next season anyway if the schedule format was not altered and the divisions eliminated.

The trade off, if one can call it that, is Ole Miss will not play Alabama during the regular season for the first time since the two teams did not meet in 1990 and 1991. Ole Miss also does not play Auburn for the first time since a stretch between the 1985 and and 1990 seasons.

The Rebels also skip out on playing Texas A&M for the first time since 2012 which was the Aggies first season in the SEC. Next season will be the first time since the 1969 season Ole Miss and Vanderbilt will not meet on the football field, ending a 52-year streak.

The 2024 non-conference schedule for Ole Miss entails hosting Furman, Middle Tennessee and Georgia Southern plus a trip to Wake Forest.
