Madison Scott has wrapped up her Ole Miss career but the women’s basketball great is primed to get her professional carer off to a strong beginning.
The forward earned an invite to the 2025 WNBA Draft, taking place Monday in New York City. Scott is looking to be the third player drafted in the Yolett McPhee-McCuin era and third Ole Miss player selected in the two-round draft since 2022.
Shakira Austin was selected by the Washington Mystics as the third overall pick in the 2022 Draft, tying Amrintie Price Herrington for the highest draft pick in program history. Marquesha Davis was drafted by the New York Liberty as the 11th overall pick in 2024, earning herself a WNBA Title in the process.
If Scott gets her named called next week she will be the eighth Ole Miss player drafted in program history dating back to 1997.
“When I think about Madison Scott and what she has done here, her journey has done here, but what do you think we’re going to do? We’re going to thrive or everything that she’s done has been in vein, and I won’t let that happen,” McCuin said after losing to UCLA in the Sweet 16 last month.
