Ole Miss has a sunny outlook with its latest bowl projections following win over LSU

Winning cures all and for Ole Miss the 55-49 shootout victory over LSU last Saturday sure did seem to fix a lot of different problems.
One of them being the postseason forecast for the No. 16 Rebels (4-1, 1-1 Southeastern Conference) and the projected bowl game they might find themselves in. Of course this is just the midway point of the season and after the Arkansas game this weekend there are six more games — five in the SEC — remaining.
Anything can happen.
But for now, as the back half of the season approaches and these projections get a little more scrutiny with each passing week, especially when the wins start piling up, there are some interesting updates for Ole Miss.
As has been the theme all season, including the very early projections before a game was even played back in August, was Ole Miss potentially finding its way back to Florida for the first time since the Outback Bowl after the 2020 season.
This week still has that Sunshine State vibe to it with the Rebels projected in two different Florida bowls by four different outlets.

The most popular projection this week for Ole Miss is heading to Orlando to play in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl. ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura, Action Network’s Brett McMurphy and CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm all have the Rebels playing at Camping World Stadium on New Year’s Day, but the Big Ten opponent varies.
Bonagura and Palm have Wisconsin taking on Ole Miss while McMurphy has Maryland slotted in. McMurphy has also placed a predicted spread and has the Rebels a 8.5-point favorite.
The other Florida bowl projection is the Gator Bowl by Athlon Sports and Ole Miss is projected to play Louisville in Jacksonville.
The Terrapins are a popular opponent for the Rebels in the latest bowl projections. Outside of the Citrus Bowl Maryland is the projected opponent by College Football News, but in the Music City Bowl.
ESPN’s Mark Schlabach also has Ole Miss playing in Nashville against Maryland.
