There was a little bit of rerouting and course-correction for Ole Miss as it pertains to its bowl projections following the loss to Georgia on Saturday.

Despite a feeling that last weekend’s game in Athens might not have a major effect on the Rebels postseason standing with all of the projections putting them in a New Year’s Six bowl, there was a bit of a major shift this week.

The change might not have so much to do with the loss to the Bulldogs as it does with Missouri’s convincing win over Tennessee in Knoxville. The Tigers have leapfrogged Ole Miss into a NY6 game in many of the projections, though the Rebels are holding on in a couple.

Currently Jerry Palm of CBS Sports and Athlon Sports still have the Rebels projected to return to the Atlanta area and take on Penn State in the Peach Bowl on December 30.

Though the other projections have moved the Rebels out of either the Peach or Cotton Bowls and back down to central Florida. ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach, Action Network’s Brett McMurphy and College Football News all have Ole Miss heading to Orlando to take on Iowa in the Citrus Bowl.

McMurphy puts early opening lines with all of his bowl projections and has Ole Miss as the hypothetical 13-point favorite if this matchup holds true come December 3.

There is plenty left to happen as Missouri must still play Florida and Arkansas to wrap up its regular season while the Rebels host ULM on Saturday and then head to Starkville for the Egg Bowl in 10 days.

Either way it seems like a trip to the Peach Bowl or Citrus Bowl is the likeliest of landing spots for Ole Miss this postseason.
