Ole Miss in need of a new head soccer coach as Matt Mott takes Oklahoma job
The Matt Mott era of the Ole Miss women’s soccer program came to an abrupt end on Sunday as the long-time head coach accepted a new job in a new conference.
News came out of Mott heading to Oklahoma to become the new head coach of the Sooners women’s soccer program. It was announced via a tweet from the Sooners Twitter account.
This ends the 13-season stint of Mott leading the Ole Miss soccer program after being hired in 2010 as only the second head coach in program history. During his tenure the Rebels became a consistent contender for a NCAA Tournament berth and also at the top of the Southeastern Conference.
Ole Miss finished the 2022 season with a 9-7-4 overall record and 3-6-1 in conference play. The Rebels missed the NCAA Tournament after losing in the second round of the SEC Tournament.
