Ole Miss looked strong against Furman and Middle Tennessee to kick off the 2024 campaign. A good reason to think that play continues might be the health of Lane Kiffin’s roster, according to ESPN’s Chris Low on Friday.

“As @OleMissFB faces its first road test vs. Wake Forest, Lane Kiffin tells me it will be the healthiest Rebels have been this season and expects to get some key players back and others operating closer to full speed,” Low tweeted. “No. 5 Ole Miss has won its first two games by a 128-3 margin.”

For Ole Miss, it’s a new challenge to go on the road to a place that the program’s only been once before. Kiffin’s ready for his group to rise to the occasion.

“(Wake Forest) has played extremely well in a lot of big games, like Clemson 17-12 just a year ago,” Kiffin said this week. “We’re going to have our hands full. These guys play really tough and aggressive. I’m excited about that challenge and our guys coming together and getting ready to go on the road…Preparation is the challenge.”

Wake Forest and Ole Miss are set to clash on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on the CW.

Ole Miss (2-0) is one of four teams ranked in the Top 5 of this week’s AP Top 25 poll. The Rebels are No. 5 — just a spot below Alabama. Georgia, Texas and Ohio State, in that order, make up the Top 3.

Ole Miss and Wake Forest have met just twice, a home-and-home in 2006 and 2008. Wake Forest won the first meeting, a 27-3 victory in Oxford. The Rebel offense ran for just 26 yards and totaled just 237 in the defeat. Ole Miss looked poised for payback two years later in Winston-Salem. Jevan Snead hit Cordera Eason to give Ole Miss a 28-27 lead with 1:01 to go, but Sam Swank connected on a 41-yard field goal as No. 20 Wake Forest escaped the upset in a 30-28 final.

The Rebels are a perfect 3-0 against ACC opponents under Kiffin with two wins over Georgia Tech and one over Louisville. Thursday evening, Ole Miss dropped their new all-white uniforms in a video for the upcoming contest.
