The schedule for Chris Beard’s first season as the head coach of the Ole Miss men’s basketball team is starting to round into shape.

On Monday the Southeastern Conference announced the conference opponents for all 14 teams in the upcoming 2023-24 season. The 18-game SEC schedule adds to the previously announced trip to the Cayman Islands Ole Miss will take as part of its non-conference schedule.

Ole Miss will play five home-and-home series and will play Auburn, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina and Texas A&M twice this year. Other SEC home games include Alabama, Arkansas, Florida and Vanderbilt.

The Rebels will make road trips to Georgia, Kentucky, LSU and Tennessee.

The SEC schedule release is the next step in Beard rounding out his first full staff and roster at Ole Miss. The staff is still a “work in progress” as Beard told The Ole Miss Spirit earlier this month but the roster is one that is mostly complete and already a month into summer workouts.

“We’re looking forward to announcing officially to the team, our first roster, our first schedule, our first effort to reach out to the students, social media wise,” Beard said. “So it’s a big next month for our program, we’re looking forward to really connecting with a lot of groups.”

While the schedule from January to March is now known back in April Ole Miss learned it will be taking part in the 2023 Cayman Islands Classic. The tournament is in its fifth year, taking place November 19-21 and the Rebels join a field that includes Drake, LMU, Marshall, Oakland, Stephen F. Austin, Utah State and Wake Forest.

Date and times for the SEC games will be announced at a later date as will the rest of Ole Miss’ 2023-24 non-conference schedule.
