Ole Miss Portal Frenzy: The Flagship’s transfer AMA (Ask Me Anything)
The Ole Miss Spirit’s Zach Berry welcomes you inside an all-new edition of ‘The Flagship,’ powered by College Corner.
Lane Kiffin and Rebel football are already busy again in the NCAA Transfer Portal. Ole Miss on Thursday secured a commitment from former 4-star recruit and LSU transfer EDGE Da’Shawn Womack. Womack signed on after visiting this week.
Womack recently wrapped his second season with the Tigers. He made double-digit appearances and posted 23 tackles, four deflections and 2.5 sacks.
Womack, a Baltimore native, played high school football at St. Frances Academy. His position coach was former Ole Miss defensive end Wayne Dorsey.
“His pass-rush repertoire is one of the better ones we’ve seen in the cycle,” On3 analyst Charles Power said of Womack at the time. On3 ranked him as a 5-star. “He can rush standing up or with his hand in the dirt.
“He is very physical to go with the athleticism and ready-made size. There’s very little holes in Dashawn Womack’s game. He has a pretty high floor.”

Womack was the No. 42 overall recruit in the 2023 class.
He was ranked as the No. 1 player in Maryland and the No. 5 DE in the class. He committed to LSU over Maryland, Georgia and Ole Miss. The Rebels hosted him twice.
But there’s work to do yet and the visitors and targets are emerging fast and furious. Berry helps make sense of the chaos by answering questions submitted on the Ole Miss Spirit message board about where things stand.
Oh, and the Rebels (9-3, 5-3 SEC) still have a game to play, too. They’ll take on Duke (9-3, 5-3 ACC) in the Gator Bowl on January 2, 2025.
The game will be broadcast by ESPN and kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT.
“The matchup that jumps off the board and should be great on a poster is, ‘Come for the great weather and the great setting. Stay for the tackles for loss,’” Duke head coach Manny Diaz said. “We’re one and two in the country in TFLs.
“A lot of respect for what (the Rebels) do in all three phases.”
