Ole Miss RB Quinshon Judkins named SEC Freshman of the Year by league coaches
Quinshon Judkins is still not finished with his first year of college football but the Ole Miss running back is already needing to look into expanding his trophy.
On Wednesday Judkins was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year by the league coaches. The announcement was part of the SEC’s 2022 Football Awards.
This is only the second time an Ole Miss player has earned the top freshman honor. Laquon Treadwell was named the Freshman of the Year for the 2013 season.
Yet another honor came Judkins way a day after he was named to the First Team of the All-SEC Coaches Team. Earlier this week he was named the SEC Newcomer of the Year by the Associated Press.
Judkins set the Ole Miss single-season record in both rushing yards (1,476) and rushing touchdowns (16). Besides rushing yards and TDs, Judkins also leads the SEC and ranks top 10 nationally in total touchdowns (17) and rushing yards per game (123.0).

The Ole Miss freshman is having one of the greatest seasons ever by an SEC freshman running back.
Judkins currently ranks third all-time amongst conference freshmen in rushing yards, behind only Herschel Walker (1,616 yds, Georgia, 1980) and Nick Chubb (1,547, Georgia, 2014). The five-time SEC Freshman of the Week leads all freshmen nationally in rushing yards, rushing yards per game, rushing TDs, all-purpose yards, scoring and total TDs.
All of this success led to Judkins receiving the highest offense grade by an Ole Miss player this season from Pro Football Focus.
Judkins is only the second Rebel to register multiple 200-yard rushing performances in the same season, joining Kayo Dottley, who tallied three such games in 1949. His 214 rushing yards vs. Arkansas were the 10th-most all-time by a Rebel.
The Pike Road, Ala. native will have the chance to add to his stat line and trophy case one more time when Ole Miss plays Texas Tech in the TaxAct Texas Bowl on Dec. 28 in Houston.
