Judd Utermark is finally healthy in his Ole Miss career.

Good thing. The Rebels have needed him to come up big over and again through four games in 2025.

Utermark on Tuesday hit a two-run home run — his second of the season — to walk off Arkansas State in extra innings, 4-2. Ole Miss led 2-0 going into the ninth, but the Red Wolves got to closer Conner Spencer.

Utermark also stole home in the win. The Rebels improved to 3-1 and next host Eastern Kentucky this weekend for a three-game series. First pitch on Friday, February 21 is 4 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.

“Proud of our team staying in the game, staying in the fight, because you never know how big this game can be,” Utermark said. “Learning how to win in these situations is probably the most valuable thing to take away from it.”

Utermark has started each of the first four games.

He’s hitting .286. Three of his four hits have gone for extra bases. Utermark and Luke Hill are tied for the team lead in homers with a pair apiece. Hill started 27 of 36 games for the Rebels last season. Eleven of his 23 hits went for extra bases, including five home runs. He drove in 12.

“I was on those two (losing) teams,” Utermark said in a previous sit-down with the Ole Miss Spirit. Utermark hosts a podcast for the Spirit, ‘Judd U.’ “It’s not fun. I can only imagine what the fans are feeling. But the one marketable difference I see is the level of business-like mindset when we come to the field. Everybody can hit and everybody can pitch, including hte last two years. There was great team chemistry the last two years.

“But this team is very close-knit. The bond is almost unbreakable. There’s a sense of when we step on that field and put that jersey on, we’re going to be business-like. We’re here to win. We’re to help Ole Miss win.”
