Moerman’s Nine-RBI Weekend: Ole Miss’ new Baby Face dominates with Cena flair

John Cena at Elimination Chamber pulled off arguably the greatest heel turn in the history of professional wrestling.
Ryan Moerman through the first three weeks of the 2025 college baseball season has emerged as Ole Miss’ top Baby Face.
Moerman drove in a career-high seven in a 13-2 Rebel win over Jacksonville State on Sunday. Ole Miss secured its third consecutive weekend series sweep and 13th win in a row.
Moerman has mostly been a mid-carder over his career. He transferred to Ole Miss from Illinois, where he was a career .276 hitter.
He’s now the main-eventer for resurgent Ole Miss baseball. The Rebels won their first-ever national title in 2022. They’ve suffered through back-to-back losing seasons since.
He’s anchored a transfer-heavy lineup as the Rebels’ all-important No. 3 hitter.
Moerman went into the series hitting .500 with five doubles, two home runs and 10 runs over his previous five games. He combined for six hits in 13 at-bats in three games against Jacksonville State, hitting two home runs, including a WrestleMania Moment of a walk-off, grand-slam home run in the finale.
Moerman had nine (!!!) RBI for the weekend. He also scored five runs and is now hitting .407 for the season.
“I’ve been feeling good,” Moerman said after the Rebels’ 13-2 win on Sunday. “Hitting’s contagious, you know? There’s a lot of other guys who are hitting really well right now.”

Moerman has stolen some of Cena’s gimmick as King of the Rebels.
His primary celebration has been Cena’s legendary ‘You Can’t See Me!’ wave of his hand over his face.
But have no fear, Heel Cena. No repercussions are necessary — say, like a steel chair to the back of Cody Rhodes.
“It wasn’t really my idea,” Moerman said. “I’m not a big fan of WWE, but I like him.”
Moerman’s next scheduled appearance is Tuesday. Ole Miss (14-1) travels to South Alabama on Tuesday. First pitch is 4 p.m. CT.
Moerman and the Rebels enter the SEC Rumble next weekend. They’re hosting No. 3 Arkansas, and first pitch Friday is 6:30 p.m. The included highlights from Sunday were provided by Ole Miss Athletics.
