No. 14 Ole Miss is in Jacksonville (Fla.) for its Gator Bowl showdown with Duke on Thursday.

The Rebels (9-3, 5-3 SEC) held their first practice in Duval on Monday after a multi-day break for Christmas break. Kickoff on January 2, 2025 is 6:30 p.m. CT on ESPN.

OLE MISS BOWL HISTORY

Ole Miss will be making its 42nd all-time bowl appearance. The Rebels are appearing in their fourth Gator Bowl.

They’re 25-15 in bowls in program history. Ole Miss is second in the SEC and tied for fourth in the FBS in bowl win percentage (.625). The Rebels are tied for 14th nationally in bowl wins and tied for 20th in bowl appearances.

Ole Miss is 12-4 in its last 16 bowl games. The Rebels won six straight from 2002-2013.

REBELS VERSUS ACC OPPONENTS

Ole Miss is 17-10-1 in history against current members of the ACC. The Rebels are 4-1 when matched against the conference in bowl games: the 1953 Sugar Bowl vs. Georgia Tech (L, 24-7); 1968 Liberty Bowl vs. Virginia Tech (W, 34-17); 1971 Peach Bowl vs. Georgia Tech (W, 41-18); 2013 BBVA Compass Bowl vs. Pitt (W, 38-17); and the 2013 Music City Bowl vs. Georgia Tech (W, 25-17).

The Rebels and Blue Devils are meeting for the first time.

CUSP OF HISTORY

A Rebel win in the Gator Bowl would secure the first pair of back-to-back 10-win seasons for the Rebels since 1959-60.

Ole Miss has won 10 games under now-sixth-year head coach Lane Kiffin twice (2021 and 2023) in four years, the first 10-win regular seasons in school history. The Rebels won 11, including the Peach Bowl, in 2023, the first in 129 years of Rebel football.

Kiffin and the legendary Johnny Vaught are the only Ole Miss coaches with multiple 10-win seasons. Vaught did so four times (1955, ‘59, ‘60 and ’62).

Kiffin earlier this season became the fastest Ole Miss coach to 40 wins. He needed just 57 games, three fewer than Vaught.
