Ole Miss football and its many new faces got in some early-morning work heading into Super Bowl weekend.

The Rebels are in the midst of their off-season strength and conditioning program headed up by Nick Savage. They’re replacing 18 of 22 starters from last season, when they won 10 games for the third time in four years.

Among the newcomers is Alabama transfer wide receiver Caleb Odom, a former 5-star recruit. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Odom caught just seven passes for 65 yards last season but was one of the most sought-after players in the portal.

Jaden Yates in 2024-25 was the Sun Belt Conference leader in tackles (121) for Marshall. He added seven tackles for loss, two pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and a sack. Yates had 10 tackles or more in five games.

“I really enjoyed my visit,” Yates said of his recruitment process. “(Ole Miss defensive coordinator and linebackers) Coach Pete (Golding) showed me a lot of love. He kept it real with me throughout the whole time. I feel he’s definitely the coach that’s going to get me to that next level.

“This is the place when I took my visit I really felt I wanted to be at from the get-go, ‘cause this was my first one, the first visit I took. This is where God wanted me to be.”

Nebraska’s Princewill Umanmielen is the younger brother of Princely, a one-and-done EDGE for the Rebels.

Princewill was named this week a Top 10 SEC transfer by On3. Umanmielen was the portal’s No. 3 EDGE. He had 35 total tackles and 1.5 sacks over two seasons with the Huskers. Umanmielen has two years of eligibility remaining.

The Rebels have brought in five transfer receivers: De’Zhaun Stribling, Odom, Deuce Alexander (Wake Forest), Traylon Ray (West Virginia) and Trey Wallace (Penn State).

Wallace is a former 4-star. He’s recorded 84 catches for 1,221 yards and six touchdowns in four college seasons and slashed 46/720/4 for the Nittany Lions last season. Wallace had seven catches for 85 yards in PSU’s three-game College Football Playoff run.
