Last week Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart was considered as one of the top 10 quarterbacks returning for the 2024 college football season and this week one of his top targets is earning similar praise.

On Monday, Pro Football Focus released its list of the Top 10 returning wide receivers and Tre Harris was among those named, landing at No. 6.

Harris was one of the first to announce his return to Ole Miss for another season, joining receiver Jordan Watkins and tight end Caden Prieskorn.

In his first season in Oxford after transferring in from Louisiana Tech, Harris finished as the Rebels leading receiver with 54 catches for 985 yards and eight touchdowns. He was just shy of a 1,000-yard season despite missing one game early in the year.

For Harris the 2023 season was one that was full of firsts and one that ended a lengthy drought for him, personally.

“For me, I haven’t had a winning season since probably my middle school years,” Harris said after Ole Miss won the Peach Bowl for its first 11-win season.

“To come in here my first year and win this many games is huge. It feels surreal to this day. All I can do is thank coach (Lane) Kiffin and the staff for recruiting me.”

While Harris failed to crack the top 5 he is the second Southeastern Conference receiver on the list. Missouri’s Luther Burden III tops PFF’s list of top returning receivers. Burden finished as the SEC’s third best receiver in 2023 with 1,212 yards and Harris finished as the fifth best.

Burden and Harris are the only two SEC receivers to make PFF’s list.

Harris’ 89.6 receiving grade was tied for sixth among FBS receivers this past season and was over nine points higher than his previous mark in 2022 (80.5).

Ole Miss could potentially boast the best wide receivers room in the SEC and one of the top in the country.

Joining Harris and Watkins is South Carolina transfer Juice Wells and all three are on campus participating in winter workouts and next month’s spring practices.

Deion Smith, the top JUCO receiver in 2023, will be coming to Oxford this summer to round out, on paper, a strong top 4 receiving corp for Ole Miss.

Then there are returners Ayden Williams and Cayden Lee set to make impacts and take another step in their sophomore seasons.

Below is PFF’s complete list of top 10 returning receivers in 2024:

  1. Luther Burden III – Missouri
  2. Tetairoa McMillan – Arizona
  3. Emeka Egbuka – Ohio State
  4. Tez Johnson – Oregon
  5. Xavier Restrepo – Miami
  6. Tre Harris – Ole Miss
  7. Elic Ayomanor – Stanford
  8. Brennan Presley – Oklahoma State
  9. Evan Stewart – Oregon
  10. Ricky White – UNLV
