Ole Miss women's basketball gets another piece of its Sweet 16 run back for 2023-24 season
Ole Miss women’s basketball bolstered its roster for the upcoming season with a trio of transfer portal additions earlier this month but on Monday it received more good news from one of its own.
Forward Tyia Singleton announced she will return to Ole Miss for her final season after initially deciding not to stay in Oxford for another year. Singleton has an extra year of eligibility.
Singleton’s first season with Ole Miss after transferring from Rutgers led to her having a career year. She averaged 5.7 points per game and 5.4 rebounds and the 194 points, 185 rebounds and 46 blocks were all career bests.
“When Tyia told me she was not going to utilize her final season I disagreed but supported her. I would’ve never thought I’d be announcing that she has had a change of heart and now returning,” said Ole Miss head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin in a statement. “This is huge for us because Slim brings experience, maturity, and toughness. I am also selfishly excited to have Tyia back because she was a joy to coach for the year she was with us.”
Part of the Rebels run to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2007, Singleton returns to join Madison Scott, Snudda Collins and Marquesha Davis.

“I’M BACK! I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to stay at Ole Miss for my 5th year,” Singleton said in a statement. “I look forward to the upcoming season and the chance to break more records with my teammates, Coach Yo and staff.”
Ole Miss now has four key contributors returning along with three transfers that have SEC and Division I experience.
Kennedy Todd-Williams, Kharyssa Richardson and KK Deans help Ole Miss have one of the more veteran rosters in the SEC this season. With the experience Richardson and Deans have in the SEC, playing at Auburn and Florida previously, the Rebels have five players on this year’s roster with plenty SEC experience.
Todd-Williams comes from North Carolina, adding a wealth of experience in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Singleton started in 26 games for the Rebels and appeared in all 34 games this past season.
