Ole Miss WR Ayden Williams enters transfer portal
Ole Miss wide receiver Ayden Williams entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3’s Pete Nakos learned on Saturday. He’ll have three years to play two seasons remaining of eligibility.
Over 20 games, he’s amassed seven receptions for 119 yards. Going into 2023 as a true freshman, he was named to the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award Watch List and On3 Preseason Freshman All-American list.
Williams played high school football at Ridgeland (Ridgeland, MS), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 82 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
As a senior, he tallied 1,265 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior at Ridgeland. Ayden Williams averaged 18.6 yards per catch and tallied over 80 yards receiving in nine of his 11 games in 2022.
Ole Miss has addressed the wide receiver position through the portal with a trio of players, which could’ve spelt it out for Williams. Wake Forest transfer wide receiver Hilton ‘Deuce’ Alexander II, Alabama transfer wide receiver Caleb Odom and Oklahoma State transfer wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling are all committed to the Rebels.

Before the 2024 season, Williams had surgery and recovered during the spring. He was working with Ole Miss’ veteran group of receivers, trying to soak up everything he could. After two years, he’s on the move.
“Stuff we learn in here, it’s really like the NFL,” Williams said in April. “So, when guys coming in it’s going to be like that when we get to the next level. As long as we stay here and learn everything we need to do. Compete here. When we get to the next level it’s going to be like no problem. Guys coming in and out, they’re not worrying me.”
