The second Ole Miss wide receiver is off the board in this year’s NFL Draft.

Jordan Watkins was selected by the San Francisco 49ers as the last pick of the fourth round and the 138th overall pick.

He follows Tre Harris who was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers in the second round to send the Rebels top two receivers in 2024 off to the NFL. Watkins is the sixth overall Ole Miss player to be drafted this year.

In his three seasons at Ole Miss Watkins finished with 142 catches for 2,096 yards and 14 touchdowns. He had six 100-yard games and his breakout effort came against Arkansas last season with eight catches for 254 yards and five touchdowns.

Watkins went roughly two rounds higher than he was projected. Those projections saw him more mas a late-round selection in either the sixth or seventh round.

“Compact wideout possessing good play strength and average athleticism,” NFL Analyst Lance Zierlen said. “Watkins was schemed into favorable downfield opportunities at Ole Miss but is better suited for work as a possession slot receiver in the pros. He lacks speed but does a good job of playing through contact and competing for space.”

Watkins is the third Ole Miss player on offense to go in this year’s NLF Draft. Quarterback Jaxson Dart was the 25th overall pick in the first round by the New York Giants.
