While it was a foregone conclusion his Ole Miss career was over Tre Harris decided to make it official on Friday.

In a post on his official Instagram account Harris announced his intentions to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, starting his journey towards a professional career.

A bowl game appearance seemed unlikely after Harris re-aggravated his groin injury in the loss at Florida. He did not play against Mississippi State and had a slight limp still when coming out for Senior Day festivities ahead of the Egg Bowl last week.

“To Coach Kiffin and all my coaches and the staff from Ole Miss and Louisiana Tech, thank you for your unwavering belief in me and for instilling the confidence to reach my goals,” Harris announcement read.

Earlier this week Pro Football Focus released a three-round mock draft with Harris as one of six Ole Miss players projected to go in the first two rounds. Harris was projected to be the 61st overall pick and taken by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Despite missing four games Harris finished the regular season as the second best receiver in the Southeastern Conference with 60 catches for 1,030 yards and seven touchdowns He was leading the conference the final month of the season after not playing in three straight games until Arkansas’ Andrew Armstrong surpassed him this past weekend, finishing with 1,140 for the regular season.

During his two-year career at Ole Miss Harris had 104 catches for 2,015 yards and 15 touchdowns. He transferred from Louisiana Tech to Oxford before the 2023 season after spending two seasons with the Bulldogs.

“To the Ole Miss fans, thank you for supporting my family and I to the fullest and welcoming us with open arms these past two years,” Harris’ statement continued. “You have truly made Oxford a second home for me, and I can’t thank you enough.”

Harris is the first Ole Miss player to announce for the NFL Draft, but will not be the last. Others will follow over the next month or after the Rebels play their bowl game.

The 2025 NFL Draft is set for April 26-28 and will take place in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
