POLL POSITION: Did Ole Miss move up in the latest rankings after blowout of Arkansas?
Ole Miss went into Fayetteville on Saturday and did something it has not done in 16 years, win and win big.
The Rebels (7-2, 3-2 Southeastern Conference) routed the Razorbacks (5-4, 3-3) to secure its second straight SEC win after the overtime loss at LSU last month.
Despite beating Oklahoma at home last week Ole Miss went backwards in the rankings, down a spot to No. 19. But what did the 32-point win over an SEC opponent on the road do for them?
In Sunday’s latest rankings the Rebels did get a bump up for the win, and some chaos above them on Saturday evening.
Six Top 25 teams lost on Saturday in No. 3 Penn State, No. 10 Texas A&M, No. 11 Iowa State and Clemson (tied in AP Poll), No. 17 Kansas State, No. 18 Pittsburgh and No. 24 Illinois.

All those losses outside of the Nittany Lions and Fighting Illini were major positives for Ole Miss.
In Sunday’s latest polls the Rebels moved up six spots to No. 12 in the Coaches Poll but moved up only three spots to No. 16 in the Associated Press Poll.
Starting Tuesday these polls will not carry all the weight as the first 10 weeks but will still be valued by the College Football Playoffs committee when the first rankings are unveiled on Tuesday.
Ole Miss is back in the spot it wanted to be in entering Week 11 and No. 2 Georgia (7-1, 5-1) coming to Oxford. Getting as close to No. 12 in Sunday’s rankings was a must ahead of the first CFP rankings. The Rebels will know the work that needs to be done and now they must do it.
