Poll Position: Ole Miss in the Top 15 after win over Georgia Tech, sets up unique Alabama matchup
Another week with a close score at halftime and another week where Ole Miss comes out of the locker room full speed and blows out its opponent in the final two quarters.
The Rebels did this once again, this time to Georgia Tech with a 48-23 win thanks to a 24-3 run in the final 10 minutes of the game. Saturday night’s second half performance nearly matched last week’s in New Orleans where Ole Miss outscored the Green Wave 30-3 the final 34 minutes of the game.
But a win is a win no matter how it is achieved and with it comes the reward of moving up in the latest batch of Top 25 rankings. Ole Miss (3-0) continued its climb up the rankings in Sunday’s newest Associated Press and Coaches Polls.
The Rebels cracked the Top 15 in the AP Poll, jumping two spots to No. 15. They sit just outside the Top 15 in the Coaches Poll at No. 16, moving up three spots.

Southeastern Conference play begins for Ole Miss next week as it travels to Tuscaloosa to take on a not-so-normal Alabama team that is scuffling. The Crimson Tide dropped its first game of the season last weekend in a home loss to Texas and then followed it up with an uninspiring 17-3 win at South Florida on Saturday.
Those two games have created the rare situation of Alabama dropping out of not only the Top 5 but the Top 10. The Tide are ranked No. 12 in the Coaches Poll and No. 13 in the AP Poll, dropping two and three spots in each, respectively.
With this rare turn of events next weekend’s game will be the first time Ole Miss has played an Alabama team not ranked inside the Top 10 for the first time since 2002 when the Tide were No. 24. Saturday’s matchup will also be the first time the Rebels have played Alabama when not ranked in the Top 10 or not ranked at all since 2007.
