Poll Position: Ole Miss makes moves in the rankings following big Georgia Tech win
Ole Miss went to Atlanta on Saturday and came home with an emphatic 42-0 win over Georgia Tech to stay perfect on the season.
The voters in both the USA Today AFCA Coaches and Associated Press Polls took notice and gave Ole Miss (3-0) a nice bump in their respective rankings on Sunday.
After moving up a couple spots last weekend after hanging nearly 60 points on Central Arkansas the Rebels doubled that in this week’s Associated Press poll. Ole Miss nearly cracked the top-15, moving up four spots to No. 16.
The top-five in the AP Poll stayed the same with Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan and Clemson holding serve on Saturday to all move to 3-0 on the year.
The biggest mover in the AP Poll this week is Oregon moving up 10 spots to No. 15 after beating then-No. 12 BYU this weekend.
The Coaches Poll continues to show love to Ole Miss, cracking them into this week’s top-15.
Ole Miss also moved up four spots in this poll, moving up to No. 13 and earn its best ranking on the early season.

There was a change atop the Coaches Poll with Georgia unseating Alabama at No. 1. The Crimson Tide moved down to No. 2 followed by the Buckeys, Wolverines and Tigers to round out the top five.
With a little less than two weeks before Ole Miss opens up SEC play against Kentucky on Oct 1 there is a strong chance it will be a Top-15 showdown. The Wildcats (3-0) moved up a spot in the Coaches Poll (No. 8) and the AP Poll (No. 9) after their win over Youngstown State on Saturday.
The Rebels wrap up non-conference play next weekend when they host Tulsa and opened up as 19.5-point favorites.
