Poll Position: Ole Miss moves into the Top 15 as it begins it SEC schedule this week

The start of the 2025 baseball season has been good for Ole Miss in a year where a turnaround needed to happen. So far so good as the bulk of non-conference play wrapped up this weekend with a 12-0 homestand.
The Rebels swept Jacksonville State to improve to 14-1 and will have a Top 15 matchup to open up Southeastern Conference this Friday based on the release of Monday’s latest rankings.
In D1Baseball’s new Top 25 Ole Miss moved up four spots to No. 13 and up four spots in Baseball America’s poll to No. 15. These are the highest rankings for the Rebels since the early portion of the 2023 season when they started No. 4 in D1Baseball’s preseason rankings a year removed from their first national title.
With those rankings it will be a high-stakes opening SEC series for Ole Miss as it hosts No. 3 Arkansas. This rivalry usually does not need anything extra but with the Rebels seemingly back on the rise this weekend in Oxford-University Stadium is going to feel like a return to form of what SEC baseball at Swayze Field should be.

Before that the Rebels have a final tuneup game this week, traveling to Mobile to play South Alabama (9-6) on Tuesday with a 4 p.m. CT first pitch. The game will air on ESPN+.
“I think it’s a perfect time for us to get away,” Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco said on Sunday. “We love playing here at Swayze Field but a chance to go on the road and play a really good South (Alabama) team. Kind of breaks up that midweek challenge. Looking forward to that.”
The season is early and all 30 SEC games are yet to be played but the metrics are starting off well for Ole Miss, which is sitting at No. 7 in the RPI after the first 15 games.
