POLL POSITION: Ole Miss moves up the Top 10 after winning another SEC road series

It may not always be pretty and it might always be stress-filled nine innings but the Ole Miss baseball team keeps finding a way to win.
Something previous versions of the Rebels might not could hang their hat on in recent seasons. Still they escaped Lexington with its second Southeastern Conference road series win. A walk-off to close out Friday’s doubleheader followed by a 12-inning marathon victory on Saturday helped them keep pace in a loaded top-half SEC.
With the success in the Bluegrass state Ole Miss (24-7, 8-4 SEC) saw itself move up the rankings closer to a consensus Top 5 team. Monday’s latest rankings from D1Baseball and Baseball America each bumped the Rebels up.
Ole Miss moved up three spots to No. 6 in D1Baseball’s Top 25 rankings and three spots to No. 7 in Baseball America’s poll.

The SEC once again litters the Top 10 rankings with six teams in D1Baseball’s poll and seven teams in Baseball America’s Top 10. This weekend will see a Top 10 matchup at Oxford-University Stadium with No. 5 Tennessee (28-4, 9-3) coming to town after dropping its home series with Texas A&M this past weekend.
Arkansas moved up to the No. 1 spot after sweeping Missouri and the Volunteers falling to the Aggies. Texas also moved up to No. 2 with LSU right behind at No. 3.
This is a busy week for Ole Miss with a pair of midweek games. The Rebels play at Memphis on Tuesday before hosting Alcorn State on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. CT first pitch. Friday’s series opener with Tennessee is set for a 6:30 p.m. CT first pitch.
