POLL POSITION: Ole Miss slides just outside of Top 10 after series loss to Tennessee

Sunday did not go the way Ole Miss wanted it after giving up three runs to Tennessee in the top of the ninth inning and dropping the series finale, 10-8.
Once again the Rebels (27-9, 9-6 Southeastern Conference) were a few outs away from winning a series against a Top 5 team for the second time this season but unable to close things out.
Though after a competitive weekend with the Volunteers the latest rankings released on Monday kept that in mind with the Rebels slide not too far down the Top 25.
In both D1Baseball and Baseball America’s rankings Ole Miss dropped to No. 11 for a five-spot slide in D1Baseball and a four-spot slide in Baseball America’s poll.

Midway through SEC the Rebels find themselves in a very solid position when it comes to getting back to the postseason.
“We played well and, overall, when we look at 15 games and everybody says this, but, certainly you feel like we left some stuff on the table,” Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco said on Sunday. “We could have closed out a few more been put in a little different spot. I think our better days are in front of us.”
Ole Miss hosts Little Rock (15-19) at 11 a.m. CT on Tuesday for its annual Kids Day game before dipping back into SEC play, traveling to South Carolina (20-17, 2-13) for its third Thursday- Saturday series of the season.
